Do it for the Kids

The film industries have been creating visually appealing movies for the family for decades now and the most notable producer of these is Walt Disney Pictures.
Children’s movies or movies for the family have been there so parents and children can go out to the movies and see something that can bring them closer together.  Disney movies are an excellent example of this because they teach the audience valuable life lessons.  For example, “Beauty and the Beast” is about looking past what you see on the outside and standing up to what you believe in.  “Little Mermaid” is about thinking outside the box and making sacrifices to achieve your goals.
According to American Movie Classic’s Tim Dirks, children or family movies can be broken up into different categories and themes depending on the season.  There are a whole slew of films geared towards the seasons such as Christmas and Halloween along with Family-Oriented features.
Dirks writes; “these movies are non-offensive, wholesome, and entertaining films that do not have scenes of violence or sex.  These films are geared mostly towards children under 12-years-old and their family.”  Dirks also goes onto write that children films are often fantasy films, with wild and imaginative themes that often have supernatural creatures as main characters.
Children movies are an essential genre for people of all ages because they are entertaining without having to include “adult” themes and scenarios while conveying life lessons and entertaining families.

Fast Five

For all those who just think that this is another installment in the Fast and the Furious well think again because it shows a whole other side to the life of a "professional runner". Brian O'Conner and Dominic Toretto have returned in this action packed chase scene from Rio de Janeiro to hopefully regain a life that they had left back in the United States. For some action movie fans out there, the much awaited arrival of The Rock vs. Vin Diesel comes as an excitement to see if those two fight it out.

Fast Five basically leaves off with what happened at the end of Fast and Furious and shows movie goers what happens with the break out attempt to hatch Dom out of a prison transport. The beginning of the movie finds Brian O'Conner and Mia Toretto in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil visiting an old friend and former runner with the Toretto Family, Vince, played by Matt Schulze. A whole slew of characters from the first four movies have made their way back into the movie, these characters include Roman Pearce, Tej Parker, Han Lue, and Gisele Harabo

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays hard-nosed federal agent Luke Hobbs who was assigned to the task of bringing in Dom, Brian, and Mia. This jam packed action film has an entire team of "runners" going after about a $100 million job with the world's best bounty hunter on their tail as well as an ending that will show all the fans that life for all these fugitives may have gotten a whole lot better.

However, after the ending credits, viewers are greeted with the face of someone absolutely no one would expect to have ever seen again. So don’t worry Fast and Furious fans because there will be more movies coming, or at least one more because this scene certainly opens a whole new can of worms for the main characters.

Supernatural

Alright so in this weeks installment of Supernatural Sam and Dean Winchester along with their father figure Bobby Singer, who just so happens to be the name of one of the executive producers of the show Robert Singer, along with their Angel sidekick Castiel go to a small town. Eve, as she is more appropriately called in the series is shacked up in a small town in Oregon where she is creating new monsters to roam the Earth but is coming up with problems with everyone she turns. The reason for Sam, Dean, Bobby, and Castiel going to this town is too attempt to kill Eve aka "The Mother of All" because of all the evil she is responsible for and since Sam and Dean helped stop the Apocalypse, they don't want a chance for another one to pop up and ruin the world.

The problem with this creature is that she can change her form into anything she wants, including Sam and Dean's mother which makes vanquishing her a very difficult task to accomplish. Because Eve is so incredibly old, she has powers that are able to create a wall between an angel such as Castiel and his powers, so the fact that the boys have an angel on their side during all those doesn't really amount to much when Castiel is in the presence of Eve because he becomes just normal.

In a previous episode, Castiel sends Sam and Dean back in time to get what is called Phoenix Ash and is said to be able to kill Eve. So in this episode of Supernatural, Sam and Dean along with Bobby and Castiel use what they can of the Phoenix Ash to kill Eve and in doing so, save the world. In an unconventional manner, well at least in Supernaturals standards, Dean takes a shot of Whiskey with some Phoenix Ash in it counting on the fact that Eve was going to bite him and ingest the ash that was in Dean's bloodstream. After doing this, Eve is vanquished and Castiel can use his power to save Sam, Dean, and Bobby from all the evil that is still lurking around this small town. Although I have said a lot in relation to last weeks episode, for all those viewers who have not seen it yet, do not be mad at me because there is still lots to see in the episode and regardless of what I've told you, this episode is just another killer installment in the Supernatural Series.

Hawaii Five-0: Ho'opa'i

Last Monday night marks yet another epic episode of Hawaii 5-0 but with subtle difference. For on this nights episode, Sean "P-Diddy" Combs guest stars as Reggie Williams, a detective from the NYPD in charge of tracking down and convicting a mob boss by the name of Jimmy Cannon, played by Keith David. Right from the beginning, this episode is jammed packed with heartache and action when the wife of Williams, Lisa Cole, and an FBI agent that was supposed to be protecting the Williams' family are shot and killed in the early hours of the morning.

Commander Steve McGarrett and the rest of the Five-0 task force take the lead in tracking down the killer of Williams wife and FBI partner. As soon as Williams is in the hospital for surgery due to gunshot wounds he sustained the night of the attack on his family, Williams leaves the hospital to determine who really kills his wife. Williams soon finds out that it is not Jimmy Cannon who killed his wife, but an unlikely character from the Cannon family. Despite McGarrett thinking that Williams is too emotionally unstable to complete this mission without killing someone through angry, Garrett and Williams team together to bring the killer to justice and solving this riveting mystery into the death of Cole.

Although tomorrow night's episode is not a new one, and it goes back to an earlier episode involving McGarrett's sister, this show still will rock the Monday night line up. Needless to say, May Sweeps for Hawaii Five-0 will be interesting and exciting to watch and make viewers interested in coming back for more next season.

Scre4m

Last night I had the pleasure of going to see Scream 4 with a couple friends of mine from school.  Ever since I heard about another Scream movie coming out, I told myself that I just had to go see it.  This new addition to the Scream Saga was certainly a great one to say the least.  With a new twist and characters to keep fans interested, Wes Craven recreates the world that he started in 1996.

Sidney Prescott returns to Woodsboro to complete her book tour and is met up with a familiar looking foe with a new agenda.  Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley have finally tied the knot and still live in Woodsboro as a writer and Sheriff combo but their simple little life style is disturbed by the death of two teenage girls on the anniversary of the murder of Maureen Prescott.  Scream 4 certainly sheds some comedic relief to this saga by taking the rules of the "game" that were originally set in the first Scream and flipping them upside down.

Scream 4 is definitely recommended to all those who have yet to see it and are wondering whether or not to.  It keeps you second guessing the entire way through on who Ghostface is and just when you think you have it all figured out, the whole movie comes together and throws everyone for a loop.  When you have a chance, check out this horror flick because it will definitely keep you on your toes and entertained.

For all those who have seen the movie already, I've got one word to say to all of you. "CLEAR!!!"
