The
film industries have been creating visually appealing movies for the family for
decades now and the most notable producer of these is Walt Disney Pictures.
Children’s
movies or movies for the family have been there so parents and children can go
out to the movies and see something that can bring them closer together. Disney movies are an excellent example of
this because they teach the audience valuable life lessons. For example, “Beauty and the Beast” is about
looking past what you see on the outside and standing up to what you believe
in. “Little Mermaid” is about thinking
outside the box and making sacrifices to achieve your goals.
According
to American Movie Classic’s Tim Dirks, children or family movies can be broken
up into different categories and themes depending on the season. There are a whole slew of films geared
towards the seasons such as Christmas and Halloween along with Family-Oriented
features.
Dirks
writes; “these movies are non-offensive, wholesome, and entertaining films that
do not have scenes of violence or sex.
These films are geared mostly towards children under 12-years-old and
their family.” Dirks also goes onto
write that children films are often fantasy films, with wild and imaginative
themes that often have supernatural creatures as main characters.
Children
movies are an essential genre for people of all ages because they are
entertaining without having to include “adult” themes and scenarios while
conveying life lessons and entertaining families.
